Well, it's over. Those three weeks sure went by quick smart.
Having driven some 3,000 km through wilderness and visiting over thirty families - chatting, laughing, learning, putting up mezuzos and putting on tefillin with them - the time has come time to wrap it all up.

The last day of camp was always a sad one.
ReplyDeleteWalking through those empty rooms one last time, hearing the echoes of laughter and seeing nothing but the lingering memories of a time so special. A few unclaimed singlets and empty Bissli packets lay lonely in the bunkhouse, and scorch marks in the carpet bear silent witness to a glorious past.
The crash of the Atlantic waves against the Emerald Isle will continue and the B&Bs will continue to ply their gentle trade: but something will be missing. Across towns and roads and castles your ghosts will roam, and Summer 5772 will join Bloody Sunday in Irish lore.
But you will live on, alive as ever, in Jewish homes and hearts across this enchanting country. The wisdom you taught, the comfort you gave, the smiles you shared; they will not grow old as we grow old, nor shall the years condemn. In the morning, and in the evening, and for eternity, we shall remember them.
On behalf of torchbearers and lamplighters across the globe, I salute you and your work.
